Death of Mrs. Gunwall

Funeral services were held at the Lincoln church at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Nels Gunwall, who passed away at Northfield, Minn., Thursday, after being confined at the hospital there for 10 days with a fractured hip. The Rev. M. B. Quill officiated and burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Services were also held at the home at Northfield Saturday morning. During the services, the Lincoln choir and the trio, namely Clara Gilbertson, Betty Rue and Norma Quill, each sang a hymn. The pall bearers were Wallace Gunwall, Wm. Gunwall, Hartvig Numedal, Clarence Numedal, George Numedal and Edward Dalen. Laura Samuelson Gunwall was born Sept. 11, 1860 at Kragero, Norway. She came to America with her parents when but a year old. They came directly to Winneshiek county where they settled on a farm near Calmar where she spent her childhood. She was confirmed by Rev. Wilhelm Koren. Nov 14, 1889, she was married to Nels Gunwall. They established their home on a farm near Ridgeway where she remained till two years go. Since last September she has made her home in Northfield, where she passed away on March 20. Three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Hamre, Mrs. Hamlin Jones of Northfield, and Mrs. I. R. Myrland of Albert Lea, and five grandchildren survive. One son, Gustav passed away when he was 10 years old. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers.
