Born July 18, 1907, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Paul and Katherine Andrew Knoll. On March 2, 1929, she married Albert Jay Hills in Burlington. He died April 27, 1971.
Mrs. Hills painted and hung wallpaper in area homes. She worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Borax Co., Burlington Willow Ware, Midwest Biscuit and Marc Island Shipyard in San Francisco.
She was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Burlington Gymnastics Club. She enjoyed dancing, playing pinochle, bingo, fishing, horseshoes, horseback riding and amateur photography.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Lee Erickson of Burlington; and seven grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, her parents, three brothers and eight sisters.
Visitation will be form 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, with family meeting friends from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a Christian wake service at 6:30 p.m.
The Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Hills will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Wiegand as celebrant. The Des Moines County Resurrection Choir will provide music. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
