Edward Huntsman, 85, of Poway, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009. He was born July 31, 1923, in Bixby, Oklahoma. Ed graduated from Bixby High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He worked at Convair as General Foreman of Flight for F-102's and F-104's; General Dynamics as Base Field Manager for the installation of Atlas Missile Bases throughout the United States through 1964; Manager of Convair Service Center for commercial aircraft until 1969; and Global Analytics in 1982 which became McDonnell Douglas Technologies where he was director of Air Programs. "Big Ed" was a leader amongst leaders. A man who demonstrated daily his integrity, honesty and dedication to his family, friends, workers and country. Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda Mae; their four children, Robert Huntsman, Beverley (Tom) Cargill, Debbie (Bill) Roecker, and Linda (Barry) Sweeney; and by grandsons, Paul, Christopher, and Shaun Sweeney. A "Celebration of Life" will be held Sunday, February 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rancho Bernardo Joslyn Senior Center, RB Community Park 18402 West Bernardo Drive, San Diego, Calif.
