Born June 9, 1923 in Sidney, Montana to John Christ Johnsen and Ingeborg Nelsen. Peacefully passed away December 25, 2006 with family around him. The Johnsen family moved to Southern California in 1930 and to the Danish community in Petaluma in 1939. He served as a Sargent in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific, during World War II. Married Joyce M. Buttke his loving wife of 61 years, in Petaluma in September of 1945. Gordon was a respected mechanic in town for many years. He began his own photography business, CeeJay Photo, which was his long time dream. Gordon also drove a school bus for Petaluma City Schools. He was a member of Elim Lutheran Church and served as treasurer and as president of the congregation. Gordon and Joyce's children are Jon A. Johnsen and Doris Lopez, Gerald M. and Betty Johnsen and Deb J. and Brian Sheridan. Their grandchildren are Elle'ndril and Josh Sommers, Klint W.J. Sheridan and Zakary F.L. Sheridan. Gordon and Joyce also have many other "grandchildren" through Betty's daycare and Deb's family care home. Gordon's siblings, Edmund Johnsen, Shirley Thayer, Laura Johnsen and Ruby Dulac are deceased. Sister-in-law Lorraine Johnsen and sister Irene Feil reside in Petaluma. Sisters-in-law, MarJean Korf resides in Polson, Montana and DeeDee Buttke resides in Reno, Nevada. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Gordon survived a severe cerebral hemorrhage in December of 1980 and has had Parkinson's since 1991. He, with Joyce's care and love, managed to stay at home for 25 years. Pleasant Care became home for the past two years. Per Gordon's request a private service was held.
