Mr. McCoy was born on June 19, 1932, to the late Lee Roy and Betty Smith McCoy and passed away on May 30, 2013, at the age of 80.
He graduated from Dadeville High School where he was an avid football player and was an All-State player. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.
Mr. McCoy served as a Boy Scout Leader, a Member of the Dadeville City Council, and a clerk for the Commissioner's Court.
He helped coach junior and varsity football teams at Tallapoosa Academy and Dadeville Junior High. He was a State Farm Insurance Agent in Dadeville for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son Billy Lee McCoy, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Marilyn R. McCoy of Dadeville; son Joe A. (Becky) McCoy of Rome, GA; daughter Melody L. McCoy of Dadeville, AL; daughter-in-law Amy M. McCoy of Dadeville; and sister Louise McCoy Jackson of Alexander City, and five grandchildren Ashley, Brooke, and Tucker McCoy, Dakota (Gene) Lamb, and Danielle McCoy, and one great grandson Wyatt Lamb and many nieces and nephews.
