Lee Vernon Lunsford, age 87, of Newport passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Newport Health and Rehab. He retired from Quaker Oats in 1987 and was a World War II Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by his parents Terrell Anderson Lunsford and Ethel Carlisle Lunsford

He is survived by his wife Mabel Hahn Lunsford; sisters Audrey (Luther) Woody of Newport, Edna (Dub) Vinson of Newport, and Marilyn (J.R.) McClelland, Ethel, LA; brothers Clinton Lunsford of Detroit, MI and Ernie (Marjorie) Lunsford of Newport; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, June 3, 2013 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Murr and Rev. Gerald Clark officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday prior to funeral services.
