William J. "Bill" Ashfield, 83, of Mahanoy City, died Thursday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Lansford, he was a son of the late William and Philippine Brill Ashfield.
He attended Tamaqua schools and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
He had been employed by and retired from DANA Corp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Hilda Wall; a son, Glenn; a daughter, Marilee; two sisters, Philippine "Dolly Ann" Ashfield and Elizabeth Mensinger; a brother, Edward; and an infant brother, Peter.
Surviving are a son, Jay and his wife, Eileen, Mahanoy City; three daughters, Luann and her husband, Dennis Zahorchak, Shenandoah Heights, Brenda and her husband, Louis Flaim Jr., Barnesville, and Terri and her husband, Ed Wassell, Mahanoy City; a brother, John and his wife, Eve, North Carolina; a sister, Jean and her husband, Joseph Truskolasky, Park Place; two grandchildren, Maria and her husband, David Miller, and Craig Wassel and his fiance, Samantha Howley; two great-grandchildren, Kylie Miller and Shelby Wassell; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at David D. Jarrett Funeral Home, Mahanoy City, with the Rev. Janet L. Kline officiating.
