Addie Kirvin Addison, 94, of Cullman passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Summerford Healthcare in Falkville, Alabama.

Born July 16, 1918 in Highland Home, Crenshaw County, Alabama to Henry Vivian and Irene (Mapes) Addison, he graduated from Highland Home High School in 1936, and attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (later named Auburn University).

During World War II he served in the US Navy including service aboard the USS John Weeks and later at Pearl Harbor.

He married Lila Jean Harper on July 4, 1944.

He was employed by U.S. Steel in Fairfield, Alabama, during which time he was ordained as a Deacon at Fairfield First Baptist Church. In retirement he lived in Eufaula, then Pelham. In 2005 he moved to Cullman, where he was a member of First Baptist Church of Cullman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Bijie Addison and Jones Addison; and three sisters, Beatrice Addison, Lorena Riley and Blanche Goldschmidt.

He is survived by his son, Dr. Mark K. Addison and his wife Kim; two grandchildren, Michael Addison and Laura Addison, all of Cullman; a brother, Bill Addison of LaGrange, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home in Cullman, AL. The funeral will be a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, with Rev. Frankie Stewart officiating. There will be a visitation at Elmwood Cemetery Chapel from noon to 1 p.m
