Mrs. Margaret McKean, 81, Louisa County Resident 75 Years Succumbs.

Columbus Junction, Ia., Jan. 30. – Mrs. Margaret McKean, age 81, who was a resident here 75 years, died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Getts, at Long Beach, Calif., where she had spent the last seven years.

Mrs. McKean was formerly Miss Margaret Clark, born near Columbus Junction, February 22, 1847.

Her first husband, R. J. Shoop, died May 30, 1892. (J. A. Shoop; John Adam Shoop died MAY 31,1890 (FROM GRAVESTONE & Indian Creek cemetery records)

She was later married to M. R. McKean, who died several years ago.

Surviving are four sons, William and John Shoop of Long Beach, Calif.; Walter Shoop of Centralia, Ill., and Celly Shoop of Cotter, and three daughters, Mrs. J. B. McElwain, Mrs. Harve Wagner and Mrs. Harry Getts of Long Beach.

A sister, Mrs. Mary Parker of Oakland, Calif., and two brothers, G.(?) B. Clark of Columbus Junction and Homer Clark of Stratford, Tex., also survive.

Albert McKean of Columbus Junction is a step-son.

Funeral services and burial will be in Long Beach.

FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN FAR WEST
Columbus Junction, Ia., Jan. 29--Mrs. Margaret McKean, of Long Beach, Calif., who was a resident of this community about 75 years, died at 3:30 Sunday afternoon, at the age of almost 82 years. She went to Long Beach about seven years ago and was making her home with her children at that place.

Miss Margaret Clark was born near Columbus Junction Feb. 22, 1847. She was married to R.J. Shoop, who died May 30, 1892. The following children survive: William and John Shoop, Mrs. J.B. McElwain, Mrs. Harve Wagner and Mrs. Harry Getts of Long Beach, Calif; Walter Shoop of Centralia, Ill., and Selly Shoop of Cotter.

Later she was united in marriage to M.R. McKean, who preceded her in death.

This is the first death of the brothers and sisters and there are surviving, C.B. Clark of Columbus Junction, Homer Clark of Stratford, Tex., and Mrs. Mary Parker, of Oakland, Calif.
