Jesse lived on Keene Road in Long Plain, once part of Fairhaven, Ma., now the town of Acushnet. He was probably on the land that passed on to his son Joseph who was the owner of the Joseph Keene farm, the third family house which survives today. Jesse served in the American Revolution, enlisting from Freetown in 1775 and serving various times until his discharge in 1780.

Jesse's son Reuben was undoubtedly named for Reuben Mason, a notable citizen who lived in that area and who served on committees with Ebenezer (b. 1707). Jesse is named as Capt. Jesse Keen on his gravestone next to that of Huldah.

A probate record names his children as Reuben, Joseph, Mercy Sherman and Huldah Rounsevell (now spelled Rounseville). The will of Ebenezer Keen recorded October 3, 1815, includes "I give unto my son Jesse Keen ten dollars in addition to what I have heretofore given him by deed and otherwise to be paid him and his heirs by my son Ebenezer in one year after my decease."

....."Rev. War Pension File S.29935-Jesse Keen"

In numerous places in Jesse's Revolutionary War pension file, it states that he died on 12 Feb 1833. Also his son's affidavit states that he was a native of Dartmouth (which is where his parents married the year before he was born, and also where he was married). The pension file also says that he died at his son Rueben's house in Fairhaven.
