Funeral service for Janie Pauline Sutton will be 10 a.m., Fri., May 31, at First Christian Church with Elder Julie Ketcher officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Owasso, under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thurs. 1-8 p.m., and family will greet friends 6-8 p.m.

Pauline has left us to join her husband of over 70 years. She passed away Mon., May 27, 2013, at the Sterling House at the age of 102.

Pauline was born on Oct. 17, 1910, in Owasso to Edwin and Johnie Macy.

She graduated from Owasso High School and Tulsa University. For five years she taught school and coached women's basketball in Tiawah. In 1935, she entered into a loving marriage to Bert V. Sutton.

Following her marriage to Bert in 1935 the couple left Owasso to being a long and faithful ministry with the Disciples of Christ. She supported her husband's ministry by taking an active leadership role in Christian education. This Christian team served the Lord in Florence, KS, Eucha, KS, Chanute, KS (twice), Blackwell, OK, and Quincy, IL.

Upon their retirement from the ministry in 1976, they retired in Claremore where they remained active in the First Christian Church. Pauline was a happy wife with over 70 years of marriage. She lived to love the Lord by teaching teachers to teach while also teaching children in church schools throughout middle America.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bert in 2007; her son, John Sheldon Sutton; and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Larry Sutton and wife, Giuli of Umpqua, OR; daughter-in-law, Judy Sutton-Barber of Galene, OH; grandchildren: Travis and Robert Sutton, Lorelei Newman, and Victoria Jacobs; great-grandchildren: Sam, Jake, Devin, and Kayla Newman, Chyah Jacobs, Cheira Jacobs, Jake and Josh Sutton, and Mandi and Devon Sutton.
