Born in Scotland. Came to America at age 9. Owned a large plantation in South Carolina, but lost it and brought his family to Texas in 1873. Bought land in Pleasant Valley and died the next year.

Peter and Violet had ten children:
They had ten children, namely Duncan, Joseph, James, Augustus, Jane, wife of William Finley; Elizabeth, wife of Robert Finley; Robert; John T.; Langdon C, and an infant girl.
