Died at her home in Oak Grove, March 16, 1898, Mrs. Carrie Brady, wife of Matthew P. Brady and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Flynn of Deerfield. The deceased was 27 year , 4 months and 9 days old; was born and grew up in the Township of Deerfield and was possessed of those virtues and traits of character that makes a noble woman. Her earnestness and energy was felt in the home, in the church, and in the school, having taught in the schools of this county 10 years, and in her last illness her complete resignation to the Divine Will was beautiful beyond expression. May 5, 1897, she was married to Matthew P. Brady formerly of Genoa, this county, and soon afterwards started in housekeeping in Oak Grove. She leaves behind to mourn their loss a bereaved, stricken husband (of 11 months)and infant son Paul, parents, brothers and sisters, besides a large circle of friends who joined in dropping a tear at the grave for the one they loved so dearly. The funeral services were held from St. Augustine's Church in Deerfield. Rev. Father Ryan of Howell, officiated, preaching a very touching sermon from the text 'your daughter is dead but sleeping.' The funeral is said to be the largest ever held in that township.
