She first married William C. Arnold, the son of Thomas Henry and Ann Eliza Arnold, on October 14, 1870.
Nancy and William were the parents of five children, two of whom died in infancy. The three that lived into adulthood were: Henry W. Arnold, b. August, 1871; Lara Arminta "Mintie" Arnold, b. 1874; and Charity Magdalene, b. July, 1881.
After William Arnold passed away, Nancy married Thad Hardgrave on Jan. 6, 1885. Thad was the son of Micajah Lewis and Elizabeth "Betsy" Loftin Hardgrave.
Nancy and Thad were the parents of three children - two girls and one boy. They were: Nora Mae Hardgrave, b. Nov. 9, 1886; Cager Lewis Hardgrave, b. Apr. 11, 1888; and
Sally Hardgrave, b. Jan. 8, 1890. Sally died in 1895 at 5 years of age in Johnson County.
In later years Nancy was known as "Aunt Rosanna". It was said that the weather was never too cold nor too hot, but what she was always ready to lend a helping hand to those that needed help. She was converted and joined the Methodist Church in her early childhood. Through the years she had always been a constant worker in the church until her health prevented her from doing so a couple years before her death.
Nancy Rosanna was well read and could converse on any topic of the day. She especially loved reading her Bible and spent a lot of time studying the scriptures.
At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter, Mrs. Will (Charity) Cates. She was laid to rest in the Kendall Cemetery.
