Lifelong Lincoln County and longtime Chandler resident Florence Amy Evans, 86, departed this life on Sunday, June 5, in Oklahoma City.
Florence was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Chandler to Claud William and Hattie Ann (Day) Falkenstein.

She graduated from Chandler High School with the class of 1937. She obtained a bachelor of science degree from Central State University in Edmond and a master of science degree from Oklahoma State University.

On Nov. 25, 1942, she married Orville (Jack) Evans in Sapulpa.

Florence began her teaching career at the Lone Oak School, northeast of Chandler, in a one-room eight-grade school. She also taught at Kickapoo Valley, Oak Grove, Pleasant Hill, Parkland, Banner and Chandler School systems. She taught school for more than 40 years.

She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Chandler, PEO, DAR, Retired School Teacher's Association and volunteered at the Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Mary Evans of Chandler; two daughters and son-in-law, Sue and Allan Crump of Little Rock, Ark., and Vera Farmer of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Ruth Falkenstein of Denver, Colo., and Zola Jones of Shawnee; four grandchildren, one great-grandson, other relatives and many friends.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Chandler, with Buster Sides officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Memorials may be made to the East Side Elementary Library, 901 CHS, Chandler, OK 74834.
