Bev was born on March 27, 1927 to Bernal and Lena Snell Ingersoll in Fabius, NY (Gooseville Corners). Beverly worked at General Electric for a few years and also at the restaurant, The Maples in Pompey for several years. She worked for many years as the head cook at Fabius Elementary School and retired in 1989.
Beverly was happiest when her children and grandchildren were around, and her door was always open to her family and friends.
She was known as mother, mom, grandma, nana, Aunt Buddy, and Ninny.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Zirbel; three daughters, Debi (Carl) Farewell, Pat Barrows, and Kim (John) Messbauer; six grandsons, Bryan and Brandon Barrows, A.J. Reynolds, and Brett, Matt and Nicholas Farewell; two sisters, Betty Wimer Buccina and Claudia Browngardt; two brothers, Claude and Ben (Sandy) Ingersoll; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, DeRuyter. Services will be on Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, DeRuyter, NY. Contributions may be made to the Fabius Fire Dept. Rescue. -
