OBITUARY:

GLADE SPRING: Vint Thomas Rector Jr., 72, died in Cedar Lawn Convalescent home. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Byars-Cobb United Methodist Church and William King Masonic Lodge No.27.

He was a former teacher and principal in the Washington County School District for 42 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva B. Rector.

Survivors include three sons, V.T. Rector III and Jeff Rector, both of Glade Spring and a son, Don Rector, Wyethville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Farris Funeral Service is in charge.

BURIAL:

RECTOR: Private funeral services for Vint Thomas Rector, Jr. were conducted Tuesday in Mr. Rose Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Jones officiating. Honorary pallbearers were William Harry Jones, Dennis Smith, Jim Smith, Roby Billings, Mark Billings and Dennis Billings.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Vint T. Rector Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, Neff Vocationsl Center, 255 Stanley Dr., Abingdon, VA 24210.
