Thelbert "Hoss" Cogburn, age 85, of Glenwood left this earth on Saturday, May 25, 2013, with his loved ones by his side.

He was born on October 28, 1927, at Newhope, the son of Joe Cogburn and Della Kilen Cogburn. On November 28, 1947, he was married to Lois Killian. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Charles Cogburn, Kevin Cogburn and Robert Cogburn; two daughters, Virginia Pate and Patricia Cogburn; two granddaughters, Shelly Lynn King and April Renee King; two great-grandsons, Mack Cogburn and Jonathan Hale; four brothers; and three sisters.

He attended the Mount Zion Free Holiness Church and was employed for many years as a timber worker, which he always loved his work even up until his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his flower gardens, which he took great pride in, especially his roses. Hoss was truly a loving and dedicated family man, whose greatest joy in life was spoiling and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved so much.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Cogburn of Glenwood; seven sons, Gary Cogburn, Dean Cogburn, Dwight Cogburn, James Cogburn and Johnny Cogburn, all of Glenwood, Joe Cogburn and Roger Cogburn, both of Kirby; four daughters, Sandra Duggan, Della Sue Cogburn, Betty Welch and Debbie Hill, all of Glenwood; twenty-five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Recie Cogburn of Mena; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 27, 2013, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Billy Thomason officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Interment will be in the Palestine Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons.
