Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stickney. Burial will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery, near Corsica.
Arrangements are under the direction of Koehn Brothers Funeral Home, Stickney.
May Linda Assmus was born in Corsica to William and May (Gill) Gruenewald.
She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Corsica. She attended country school in Douglas County near Corsica.
She married Ray Schrank in 1934. They farmed near Corsica until Ray died in 1966. She moved to Mitchell and worked at the Methodist Hospital as a cook and as a waitress for several years.
May married Werner Assmus in 1970 and moved to Stickney.
May worked at Stickney Public School, cooking lunch. Werner died in 1980.
May enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and bowling. She moved to Golden Living Center in 2010.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Edna Schrank; five grandchildren: Rod (Diana) Schrank, Ginger (Dan) Hertz, Mick (Jodi) Schrank, Donald (Gina) Schrank and Rennie (Marty) DeBoer, 12 greatgrandchildren and 12 greatgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Donny Schrank; six brothers, a sister and a great-grandson.
