Dorothy Wach, age 81, formerly of Aurora, died Sunday, June 5, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 8th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. No flowers, please. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church, Aurora. Her cremains will be buried at a later date in the U.S. Military Cemetery, Fort Huachuca, AZ. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy Jean Wach, the daughter of Wilbur A. and Myrtle (Sailor) Wolfe, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on June 30, 1923 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on June 5, 2005, at the age of 81. The family moved to Stockham, Nebraska in 1928 and Dorothy received her public education graduating in 1940 from Stockham High School. In 1942, she attended the Nebraska College of Commerce in Hastings, Nebraska. After passing the Federal Civil Service examination, she accepted a Clerk-Typist position in Washington, D.C. She worked for five years before resigning from the Signal Corps, Pentagon, to marry Serviceman James W. Ellyett, Jr. on June 1, 1946, at the Post Headquarters Chapel, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Five children were born to this union. She followed her career husband to Japan, Germany, and various stateside assignments until his retirement in 1961, when they moved to Aurora. In June 1971, Dorothy again resumed her Civil Service career at the VA Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska until retirement in August 1985. On October 30, 1976, she married Edwin F. Wach, retired WO-3, at the First Christian Church in Aurora, NE. In June 1986, they moved to Sierra Vista, AZ. Mr. Wach passed away on October 9, 1995 and is buried in the U.S. Army Cemetery at Fort Huachuca, AZ. Dorothy returned to Aurora in August 1997 to be near her family. Dorothy was active in the Christian's Women's Fellowship, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Short Wing Piper Club and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers Archie (Bud) C. Wolfe and Vernon L. Wolfe and two sisters, Nina L. Wolfe and Esther L. Wolfe. Dorothy is survived by her two sons, James W. Ellyett III of Holiday Island, AR and Gregory R. (Joan) Ellyett of Whitesboro, TX; three daughters, Amelia M. (Michael) Wiseman of Grand Island, Marjorie S. Banse of Kearney and Patti L. Ellyett of Dallas, TX; two step-daughters, Lea M. (Rodney) Kudlacek of Grafton and Sharon L. (Jake) Allen of Olathe, Kansas; a step-son, Edwin (Sandy) F. Wach of Nebraska City and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her sister Wilma (Pat) A. Nuss of Aurora and other relatives and friends.
