Kenneth Harlan Smith Sr. was the son of Thomas Claud Smith and Lillian Dewey Mote, born in Goose Creek (now Baytown), Harris Co., Texas.

Kenneth married Dimple Del Cuzzort on February 27, 1951 in Baytown, Harris Co., Texas.

Kenneth and Dimple had the following children:

1. Kenneth Harlan Smith Jr

2. Michael Stephen Smith

Kenneth was a graduate of Cedar Bayou High School and was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from Oct 3, 1950 to Oct 3, 1952. He was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, Baytown, Texas, where he served as a Deacon. Kenneth worked at Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation where he retired in 1985. He was also a member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192.

Kenneth H. Smith, Sr., 85, of Baytown was born May 1, 1928 in Goose Creek and passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 in a Houston hospital. He was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and also a member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Lillian Smith and brothers, Earl Ray Smith and Thomas Bryant Smith. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dimple Smith of Baytown; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth, Jr. and Tracy Smith of Houston and Mike and Sarah Smith of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah Smith of Webster, Meagan, Matthew, and Samuel Smith, all of Houston, and Gabriela Smith of Bettendorf, IA; sisters-in-law, Shirley Wainscott of Madisonville and Grace Smith of Pasadena; special nephew and niece, Gordon and Lavon Smith of Baytown; and numerous other nephews and nieces.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services with Masonic rites will be Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Broussard and Dr. E. Richard Steel officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Cedar Bayou Masonic Cemetery.

In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Masonic Home and School of Texas, 338 Grapevine Highway, Hurst, TX 76054, www.mhstx.org
