.Josiah Ballanfant enlisted 15 May 1862 and assigned to Co F, 4rd Tennessee Cavalry, CSA[. On 19 Sep 1863, he was wounded in action during the Battle of Chickamauga. On 15 Jul 1864, Josiah was wounded, again, at Harrisburg, Mississippi.

Probably not stone cutter error, but perspective error. I've discovered a number of similar errors where the decedent passed away in the wee hours. He died "last night" to the layman, but it was already the next day temporally.
