Mrs. Emmet Bolt Dies

Passed Away at the Wise Memorial Hospital in Omaha Friday P.M.

Mrs. Emmet Bolt, whose condition was reported in these columns last week as very critical, passed away as peacefully as she would fall asleep at 1:20 last Friday afternoon at the Wise Memorial Hospital in Omaha, where she had been taken Friday night of the week before.

The doctors were somewhat puzzled as to just what the exact trouble was but there was a congestion of the ileum from inflammation of the gall bladder of a nature that an operation wasn’t advised. The congested condition was beginning to clear up when pneumonia set in in one lung and she was too weak to throw it off.

The funeral service was held at the Congregational church at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon. Rev. A. F. Newell officiating. The music furnished by a quartette composed of Mrs. J. B. Spellman, Miss Mary Cook, H. H. Brown and the writer, with solo by G. L. Dixon, Miss Jeanette McQuarrie at the piano.

The church was crowded and many had to stand during the service. There was a wealth of beautiful flowers, showing the love and respect in which Mrs. Bolt was held by all who knew her. Mr. Newell paid a very fine tribute to her as a wife, mother, neighbor and friend. She had been a member of the Congregational church for a good many years and was faithful and devoted in her attendance and duties whenever able.

Mary Jane Rosenbaum, daughter of Samuel Rosenbaum and Elizabeth O’Bryan, was born near Marlon, Va., April 22nd, 1864, so was 63 years, 8 months and 15 days old at the time of her passing. In early girlhood she was confirmed in the Ebenezer Lutheran church near Marion.

She was married to Emmet Bolt of Wythe county, Va., at Chilhowie, Va., April 27th, 1887, and they came to this country that fall establishing their first home near Kennard. The following spring they moved to Blair, which has been their home ever since, Mr. Bolt being engaged as a carperter and builder.

Nine children were born to them all of whom, three boys and six girls are living, Elizabeth, Mrs. Lloyd Pilcher of Albion, Nebraska, Guy, of Council Bluffs, Ia., Carrie, Mrs. Chris E. Jensen, of Blair, Wilma, Mrs. D. C. Gill, of Tekamah, Carl of Schuyler, Neb., Dr. W. J. of Tekamah, Evelyn, Mrs. Frank Wilson, of Blair, Helen and Ruth who live at home.

Mrs. Bolt was one of a family of seven children. Her parents and one brother, Luther, preceded her in death. The surviving sister and brothers are, Mrs. W. W. Wassum, of Lodgepole, Neb., Wm. H. Rosenbaum, of Kennard, Joseph E. Rosenbaum, of Missouri Valley, Ia., Chas Rosenbaum, of Albion, Neb., and Samuel M. Rosenbaum of Gooding, Idaho.

She leaves also, fifteen grandchildren, besides many relatives and friends who will greatly miss her but long remember her kind and loving ways, her faithfulness to duty in her home, in her neighborhood and to her church.
