Lola Pearl Taylor Kotar, 85, of West Newton, died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. She was born Oct. 31, 1919, in Bay City, Texas, the last remaining child of the late Thomas Jefferson Taylor and Jenette Belle Rhea Taylor. Pearl was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church and she was a past member of the First Parish Council. She was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and served on the kitchen committee for over 20 years. She had received a diploma in food handling and sanitation, and while in Texas, she worked for several large hotels in their restaurants. When she moved to West Newton, she worked for Alvin's Snack Bar and Johnny Kobe's Appliance Store. Pearl was once very active with the West Newton Community Ambulance Service as a dispatcher and ambulance attendant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, August Kotar, on June 21, 2003; five sisters, Prudence Patterson, Ellen Knox, Sadie Knox, Mildred Bading and Wonda Knaus; and four brothers, Elmer, Robert, Rhea, and Johnny Taylor. She is survived by her several nieces and nephews, Kathie Malarski and her husband, Joe, and their children, Joshua Malarski and his wife, Kate, and Janessa Malarski, all of Rillton, John Kotar and his wife, Debbie, of Cassadaya, N.Y., and their children, Lisa Kotar of Louisiana and David Kotar, of Illinois, Donald Kotar, of Casselberry, Fla., and his children, Wade, also of Casselberry, and Jason and his wife, Jennifer, of Oviedo, Fla., Nadine Knaus and Greg and Buddy Knaus, all of Texas, and Linda Totel, of Maryland. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the RICHARD F. DODSON MEMORIAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor John Regoli as celebrant.
