Born March 19, 1917 in Philipsburg, Marjorie was a daughter of Steele and Phoebe (Eggeson) Butterworth.

She was a graduate of Philipsburg High School, Class of 1935.

Mrs. Dobson was the treasurer for Chester Hill Borough.

From Sept. 18, 1942 to Aug. 4, 1943, she served with the Woman's Army Air Corps, then transferred to the Woman's Army Corps during World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge she worked for the Headquarters Command, Office of Military Government in Germany.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Philipsburg Chapter No. 387, where she was a golden star member and served as past worthy Matron; Amaranth, Presqueisle Court No. 66, where she was past royal matron and the Chester Hill Mothers' Club.

On June 4, 1949 in Philipsburg, she wed William C. "Cody" Dobson, who died on Dec. 23, 1987.

She is survived by a brother, Edwin C. Butterworth of Allport and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dobson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a brother, Maxwell S. Butterworth.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 465, Philipsburg, Pa., 16866
