Mr. Porchous Bohannon, 84, of Norwalk, Connecticut, died May 19, 2001 in Connecticut.

A funeral will be Saturday, May 26 at 2 p.m. in the Sellers-Smith R. W. S. Memorial Chapel, Greenville Street, Newnan, Ga. Bishop Alfred C. Bohannon Jr. will be eulogist. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in the Corinth community. Pallbearers will be Robert Meadows, Adrian Potts, Melvin Meadows, William Bohannon, Melvin Cruver and John Kirkpatrick. Nieces will serve as flower ladies.

Mr. Bohannon was born September 2, 1916 to the late Henry and Lougenia Hutchinson Bohannon. At an early age he joined New Hope Baptist Church and was educated at the Mount Gilead Elementary School.

Soon after Mr. Bohannon took a job as a truck driver and relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee. He returned to Grantville where he married Willie Waters Bohannon. He and his wife relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he was employed and retired from Fisk Tire Inc. He was a fun and loving kind-hearted individual who loved his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and six brothers and his wife.

Surviving are brother, John Henry Bohannon of Gulfport, Mississippi; sisters, Ollie Pearl Holmes of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Fannie Bohannon of Stratford Connecticut, Lillian Johnson of Milford, Conn., Olivia Mitchell and Fairest Potts of Atlanta, Ga., and Margaret Rogers of Carson City, California; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
