Dee Ann Elnora Sjoblom Alder, 75, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on May 20, 2013 from causes sustained in a fall.
She was born in Salt Lake City on December 10, 1937 to Louis John and Helen Green Sjoblom.
Dee Ann attended public schools in Davis County and graduated from her beloved Davis High School, where she later taught. She had a great love of learning and teaching and earned two Master''s degrees; one in Theatre at the University of Utah and the other in Teaching English as a Second Language at Azusa Pacific University. She taught many years at Davis High School, Mt. SAC Community College and with the BYU China Teachers Program. She was a great teacher and loved by so many of her students.
Dee Ann was full of adventure and loved to travel to new places. On September 22, 1981, she embarked on an eternal adventure when she married Dr. Reed Thurgood Alder in the Salt Lake Temple. They had many happy adventures together at their beautiful home and all over the world. They were married for 22 years until Reed''s death in 2003. Most of their married life was spent in Glendora, CA.
She was known to the end as an intelligent, hard working, motivated, driven, determined and loving woman with a great sense of humor.
Dee Ann had a deeply rooted testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, but her favorite was as a temple worker in the Los Angeles and San Diego Temples.
Dee Ann is survived by her two brothers, Paul and Ronald (Loreen); Reed''s children, Syndea (Randy) Mendioroz, Jon (Julie) Alder, Lisa (Greg) Arnold, Scott (Teresa) Alder, Heidi (Troy) Cox, Aaron (Jill) Alder, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one stepson and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the 18th North Ward building, 135 A Street, Salt Lake City. Friends may visit family at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 am prior to services.
Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
