Margaret Genieve Anderson was born April 5, 1926 in Michigan, ND, the daughter of Christian and Anna (Gustafson) Anderson. She was raised on her parents' farm. Margaret attended a rural elementary school and graduated from Michigan High School in 1944. After high school she spent five years helping care for her grandmother at Aunt Mintie's home in Michigan. She worked as a nanny in the cities and as a nurse's aide in Sharon, ND and at the hospital in Michigan, ND. She married Leland Skjervem on April 18, 1958 and lived on the farm until the fall of 2004 when she moved to Lakota. She has resided at the Good Samaritan home since December of 2004. Leland passed away October 25, 2006.
Margaret was a member of Sarnia United Lutheran Church of Whitman where she was a Sunday School teacher and member of the Ladies Aid. She was a 4-H leader for many years. She made many beautiful quilts for her family. She enjoyed ceramics and painting classes. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of time spent with "granny".
She is survived by her children, Lisa (Karmen) Johnson of Fargo, Paul (Lori) Skjervem of Lakota, Glenna (Jeff) Fosse of Grand Forks, and Loren (Liz) Skjervem of Rapid City; grandchildren, Andrea (Tyler) Einarson, Erica (Aaron) Lien, Lynette Maycock, Caitlin and Shaylie Skjervem, Bryan (Lindsay) Fosse, Sabre and Amber Skjervem; great grandchildren, Olivia Einarson, Asta and Anders Lien, Taryn and Lyana Maycock.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Arnold, Leland, Floyd, Alvin, Morris and Charles Anderson; and sister, Almeda Narum.
The Funeral Service will be held at Sarnia United Lutheran Church of Whitman, ND, on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the West Forest Cemetery, rural Whitman. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Friday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
