Helen Rosene Smith (84) of Wellston was born in Chandler on April 9, 1928 and died on June 21, 2012. She served in the Women's Army Corp during WWII as a jet engine tester. Helen was feisty and ornery and was known for her practical jokes. She loved to fish and watch fishing programs, and enjoyed playing music with her late husband, Merl Smith. Helen was a great cook, Thanksgiving was huge for her - she'd start preparing food 2 weeks ahead.

Helen is survived by her children: Joe G. Miller & wife Marian, Beverly J. Smith and Sandra Myrle Smith. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
