A Memorial Service will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD, on May 25, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Stenzel officiating.
Family and friends may gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery.
Norma was born on April 23, 1920, at Whitewood, SD, to Henry and Anna (Benson) Woelz. Norma graduated from Wasta High School, went to college, and then taught school for six years.
She married Charles E. King on July 30, 1946; they resided in Lead, SD. Charles worked for Homestake Mining Co and died in the mine in 1971. They had no children. After Charles died Norma went to work for Homestake as a telephone operator where she worked until she retired.
She was an avid bridge player. Norma was a member if the Sheperd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Twin Cities Senior Center, Eastern Star, AARP, Go Getters Club, VIP Club, and the Deadwood VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived on her side of the family by one niece, Linda Knox and husband, Gary, of Federal Dam, MN; three great nieces, Shelly Welk, Angie Webb, and Lori Giffen; sister-in-law, Bernetta Woelz of Sioux Falls, SD; and special friend, Robin Larson of Lead, SD.
She was preceded in death by her baby brother, Jackie; her parents; husband, Charles; brother, Russell Woelz; and sister-in law, Johnann Veren.
Memorials may be made to the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or Twin Cities Senior Center in Lead.
