She was proud to have served her country as a military wife. She organized the Heart of the City and worked for the good of downtown Washington. She spent many years teaching Sunday school and was involved in children's programs. She had an outreach program on the phone after she was too ill to leave the house.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, William R. Armes, whom she married Oct. 11, 1968; a son, Shane Justin Armes; brothers, Wilbur (Glenna) Barber, Lonnie (Judy) Barber, and Andy (Teresa) Barber; lifetime friend, Anna Lou Chapman; a grandson, Railan Haig; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Hal Barber.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gill Funeral Home, with Pastor Dean Stuckey officiating.
Preferred memorials are to Bethel Mall.
