Randy Davis attended Tennesee Temple University for Music and Bible, and sang with a Gospel Group named "The Christianiers. In Sarasota Florida he had been a member of the Faith Baptist Church.
He was born in Gainsville, Georgia, where his parents Paul and Jean Davis still live.
Randy moved to Sarasota 13 years ago, and was father and stepfather of six children; two daughters and two sons from previous marriages, and a son and stepson with Rena Johnston.
Randy and Rena met in Jan. 1992, at the bowling ally. A mutual friend said they needed to get to know each other.
They were both avid bowlers and have participated in doubles tournaments at Rip Van Winkles Lanes in Sarasota.
They married three weeks later on Valentine's Day, March 18,1992. They attended Church together. Later they had a baby boy and named him Justin.
Baby Justin was just 4 months old when Randy died.
In the early morning on June 21, 1992, Randy Davis left for work after kissing his wife good bye, and telling her he loved her. He left for Whitfield Industrial Park, where he worked as a route salesman for Dolly Madison Bakers. As Randy was stopped at a stop light, he was approached by three boys, ages 18, 15 and 14 years of age. The 3 boys were on bicycles. One of the boys shot Randy in the head as his truck rolled aimlessly into a tree. The gun wound to the head caused Randy's death at just 36 years of age.
