Jesse was the son of Simon and Rosa Burke Seiple with siblings: Verba, Mina, and Maud. His mother and father were later divorced. Jesse was an engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He married Lillian McCreary on 26 January 1918 in Montgomery, Alabama, and following her death, married divorcee Bertha Drouillard Walerins on 13 July 1945 in Henry County. Jesse was 5'11" tall, weighed 193 pounds, had brown eyes and black hair.
