Rankin, Mrs. Dorothy Greene - age 54, born and a lifelong resident of Knoxville, passed away 5:27 p.m. Friday, Dec 21, 1984, at Fort Sanders Hospital after a valiant fight with cancer. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She spent her life living and teaching the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, serving countless others with her wisdom, love and faith. She was a former member of the Knoxville Watercolor Society and was very active until her failing health prevented her from painting and participating. A part of all of us is now empty with her passing. Survivors: husband, Bruce Rankin, president of Rankin Sign Co.; sons, Bob, Jim and John Rankin of Knoxville; daughters, Judy Prince of Utah, Janice Erickson of California; Parents, Mr. and Mrs, Marvin Greene, Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; brother, Clarence Greene, Mesa, Ariz.; sisters, Melba Wilkins of Arizona, Verena Imler of Delaware, Vontella Sicz of Arizona. Funeral 11 a.m. Monday, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 400 Kendall Road. Interment Highland Memorial Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour at the church before services. The family request that memorials be made to the Fort Sanders Medical Center Oncology Unit. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Berry Funeral Home.
