From personal research, I believe that Green Freeman Jenkins migrated to Bienville Parish Louisiana from Georgia about 1850. The 1850 census listed him in household #337 as a laborer with the Rolen Horn family. Rolen Horn age 55, born in Georgia, wife Rebecca (Poland) Hornma age 42, Mary A. age 19, Martha age 17, John age 16, Charity age 13, Patience age 11, all born in Georgia; then George A. age 7, Wyatt age 4, and Wesley age 6 mos. all born in Louisiana. The Horns probably moved to Louisiana about 1843. Louisiana marriage records in Bienville Parish book A page 72 show Green Freeman Jenkins married Dinah Poland 10 April 1851. Louisiana Land Records of Bienville Parish show that Green F. Jenkins bought land (79.76 acres) June 01, 1860 and another record shows Green F. Jenkins bought 39.88 in April 02, 1860. Green Freeman Jenkins died 9 September 1868 at the age of 43. Dinah was left with five children to raise, the oldest son John W. was only 16 years old, Virginia Ann was 14, Mary Etta 11, Josephine 6, and William James 4. The 1870 Bienville Paish Census shows only Dinah and the children; with Dianh as head of household.

The July 20, 1870 Census Post Office Ringgold Ward #4 Bienville Parish,LA list Dinnie (Dinah Poland) Jenkins age 37 sons John age 17, James age 5 daughters Virginia age 15, Mary age 12, Josephine age 7 living in household #316 also in same household Edward Bedford age 18 farm laborer.
