Vivian Lorene Acuff, 89, of Harrison, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at her residence. The daughter of James T. Cantrell and Anna Catherine Smith Cantrell was born May 23, 1923, at Kirk Mountain, in Bergman.

Ms. Vivian married the love of her life, J.W. Acuff, on Dec. 16, 1941, at Olvey. She helped start the first school cafeteria at Eagle Heights Elementary by cooking the food at home and taking it to the school along with other members of the PTA. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, cooking, fishing, spending time with her cats, and was a past member of the Hopewell Farmettes.

She is survived by two sons: Criss Acuff, of Harrison, and Carl (Diana) Acuff, of Harrison; a sister, Anna Lee Watters, of Kansas City, Missouri.; four grandchildren: Scott Acuff, Christy Acuff Vidos, Carl Jr. (Nina) Acuff, and Diana (Doug) Lowery; eleven great-grandchildren: Victoria, Brittany, Kristen, Mary, Leslie, Trevor, Walker, Callie, Donnie, Joseph, and Brendon; and a host of nieces, nephews and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers; three sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Acuff.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home Chapel, with Frank Whiteside officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carl Acuff Jr., Doug Lowery, Trevor Lowery, Walker Lowery, Paul Watters, and Ross Thornton. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Ronald Reese and staff, and Scott Acuff.
