(1926 - 2013)
Ron passed away May 19, 2013 surrounded by loved ones. Ron was born December 27, 1926 to Allen and Margaret Wetzell. He married Juanita Walls. Ron and Juanita celebrated over 50 years of marriage until her passing in 2007. The love Ron and Juanita shared for each other will serve as a tribute to our family for generations to come.
Ron was a native Oregonian, and very proud of it.
After high school Ron went in to the army and served in Korea. Ron had many businesses and careers from painting cars to owning a gas station in Springfield. He owned and operated Ron Wetzell Log Trucking until his retirement. Son Craig also worked in the family business.
Ron was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was proud to have shared and taught his love of fishing to each of his kids and grandkids. Ron and his family shared endless memories of summers spent at the Eugene Yacht Club. He loved to water ski and taught his children to ski as well as many of their friends. He loved camping with family and friends. He was a long time member of the Elks.
He is survived by his daughter Myrna Haxby, 6 grandkids and one great-grandchild. Preceded in death is his daughter Carla Loftis, son Craig Wetzell and grandson Tyler Wetzell.
The service will be held at Northwood Christian Church, 2425 Harvest Lane, Springfield OR on Thursday, May 23 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics in memory of Ronald Wetzell.
