When Francois Balthazor moved his family from Canada to Illinois, he, his friends and relatives bought small acreages in the Francois Levia reserve, forming a close- knit French speaking community known as Petite Canada. It was here that Angeline was born. After her husband died in 1902 she applied for a widow's pension and stated that she only owned her household items and a dower interest in 13 1/2 acres in the Francois Levia reserve. She evidently spent her childhood and married life living in Petite Canada. She died in her daughter's home near Manteno.

She marrried James Rantz 28 January 1867 at the Maternity of the BVM Catholic Church and they were the parents of fifteen children.
