James Columbus "J.C." Jackson, 78, of Omega died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at his residence.

Graveside services will follow at Omega Cemetery with the Rev. Anson Jackson and the Rev. Christopher Jackson officiating.

Born Nov. 13, 1926, in Colquitt County, Mr. Jackson was the son of the late Kibbie C. Jackson and the late Ethel L. Benefield Jackson.

He was a retired farmer and textile worker with J.P. Stevens and Modern Fiber.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Jackson was a member of American Legion Post 21, and he was a member of Omega Church of God.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons; a daughter, Betty Faye Jackson Smith; four brothers; three sisters; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Margaret Lawson Jackson of Omega; four sons, James Jackson of Baconton, Bobby Jackson and wife Beverly of Albany, Dale Jackson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Tim Jackson of Ty Ty; five daughters, Sarah Harris and husband Wayne, Margie Bennett and Raye Jean Wood, all of Omega, Annette Stilwell and husband David of Sycamore and Rhonda Simmons and husband David of Berrien County; two sisters, Jeanette Jackson of Omega and Alease Brown of Brookfield; 26 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
