What follows is taken from ‘Gravestone Inscriptions'. The stone has not been found, and there is therefore no conclusive proof that it was situated at 4-144. However the available evidence does point in that direction. The Cemetery Register shows the ground to Hugh McCutcheon, Ballywatticock, and this the only instance where this name and location both occur. Also the name ‘Andrew' appears in both this and on the existing more modern stone, recorded above. There is no longer a railed enclosure, but viewing the ground as it appears today it would be hard to avoid the conclusion that there must have been some such protection originally. (See note regarding missing railings).

Hi,
I have done a major survey of Movilla Old Ground Cemetery. This included aerial charts built up from a helicopter to make sure nothing was missed. I can say with 99% certainty that the old McCutcheon stone you are looking for is no longer to be found. There are stones listed in Dr Clarke's Gravestone Inscriptions which sadly now no longer exist. Over the years stones get broken up into many pieces and are eventually removed for safety reasons. Some of these also become so weathered that they are no longer legible. Sorry.
Norman McGimpsey.
