Emma J. (Breighner) Birch, 77, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at the Hanover Hospital. Born July 3, 1929, in Abbottstown, Emma was the daughter of the late Vincent F. and Edith V. (Lingg) Breighner. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, Hanover, having served on Church Council and the Steward Fellowship Committee. She was employed as a waitress for many years in the Hanover and Abbottstown areas with A & W Drive-In, Bupp's Dairy, Shoneys, Elby's, and the Lincoln View Motel and Restaurant. She was also employed with Lana Lobell, Hanover, and most recently with Glaxo-Smith Kline, Hanover. Surviving is one daughter, two sons,; four sisters,; one brother,; four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter,; and a number of nieces and nephews. Emma was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Breighner. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, 1398 Moulstown Road, Hanover, with the Rev. Dr. William H. Beck officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery.
