Mrs. Della Mae Jarvis of Mineral Point departed this life on November 4, 2003 at her residence, having reached the age of 87 years, 5 months and 13 days. She was born on May 22, 1916 at DeSoto, MIssouri to the late Sylvester Blackwell and Florence (Glore) Blackwell.

On September 8, 1931, Della was united in marriage to Mr. Elbert "Dee" Jarvis. Throughout their lives together they were blessed with fourteen children.

Della was a very loving and dedicated mother and wife. She had a true love for God and was a member of the Gumbo First Church of God. She and Dee made their home at Mineral Point for the past 72 years. After sharing over 72 years of marriage, Elbert preceded Della in death on October 3, 2003. Della leaves behind many special memories in the hearts of her children and grandchildren. She was a special mother, sweet grandmother, dear sister, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Hurldin, Hurshel and Melvin Jarvis; two brothers, James and Wesley Blackwell and three sisters, Mary Blackwell, Emma Blackwell and Neoma Willis.

Among those who remain to mourn her passing from this life are six sons, C.D. Jarvis and wife Pat of Potosi; Murlin Jarvis and wife Barb of Bismarck; Jerry Jarvis and wife Ethel of Potosi; Randall Jarvis and wife Donna of Mineral Point; Raydean Jarvis and wife Elizabeth of Bismarck and Roger Jarvis and wife Cathy of Mineral Point; five daughters, Lorene Douglas and husband Johnnie of Potosi; Ruby Eye and husband Kenneth of Potosi; Piney Wakefield of Park Hills; Nadine Coffman and husband Jim of Cadet and Nancy Spurgeon and husband Dane of Casey, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Marple Jarvis of Mineral Point; two brothers, Eugene Blackwell and wife Viola of Bonne Terre and Ray Blackwell and wife Lou of Bonne Terre; two sisters, Edna Politte of Hopewell and Faye Marler and husband Lynn of Desloge; forty seven grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren, and several step and great step grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many dear friends who will also sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, November 7, 2003 in the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Cleo Counts and Rev. Davey Welker officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Jarvis, Jim Douglas, Sonny Wakefield, Brandon Jarvis, Ricky Bishop, Wade Jarvis, Jesse Douglas and Carl Jarvis.

Interment and final prayers were at the Jarvis Cemetery located at Stony Point.
