She was 86 years old. A resident of Chagrin Falls, Ohio she was born in Detroit, Michigan, and for many years lived in Grosse Pointe, Michigan where she married Robert P. Hurley and raised her four children. The family moved to Gates Mills, in the early 1970's, where she quickly became involved in a number of community activities, including leadership roles in the Christ Child Society, and the Chagrin Valley Hunt Pony Club.
Always brimming with energy and enthusiasm, she loved gardening, birding, and traveling. A member of the American Kennel Club, she had a special affection for field retrievers. Always creative and innovative when it came to cooking, she co-founded Mom's Gourmet in 2008 with her daughter, Sally, a national brand of artisan seasoning and spice blends. Her culinary skills helped build the successful business whose products can now be found in national and regional grocery chains and gourmet food stores throughout the country.
Rosemary Patricia Flattery was born January 28, 1927. A loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her four children Kathleen Wierdsma (George) of Chagrin Falls, OH, Robert Hurley (Heather Wicke) of Arlington, VA, Patrick Hurley, and Sally Koepke (Steve), of Newbury, OH; five grandchildren, Katie, Elizabeth, and Sarah Fortner; Hope and Eryn Hurley, and a great grandson, Austin Connor; a brother Thomas L. Flattery of Pacific Palisade, CA, sister Sally O'Malley of Santa Barbara, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by her family, and all who loved her. Private Burial Services will be held at Mt. Elliott Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan.
