Cynthia was the daughter of Sam Hale and Paulina Allen. Legally, her maiden name was Allen. However on her children's birth and marriage certificates, they list her maiden name as Hale.

Cynthia first married Albert Dysert in Hardin County, Ohio. She was widowed in November of 1921. Their son, Albert Allan Dysert, was born 3 weeks before Albert died.

She next married Elmer Robinson in Hardin County, Ohio.
Their children were Rosemary, Richard Elmer, Willard Lynn, William, and Timothy Robinson. She also had a stepson, Eugene Robinson.
