Thomas was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, in 1918. He is included as one-year-old Clemson, living with his parents and siblings, in the 1920 Federal Enumeration of Muskogee, Muskogee Co., OK. His father, William, died a few months afterwords. Clem Snyder, 12 years old, is included, living with his widowed mother and siblings in the 1930 US Census of Muskogee, Oklahoma. His mother, Elizabeth, died in 1938. Twenty-two-year-old Clem is shown living with his older brother, William, in the 1940 Federal Census of Muskogee. The following year, he married Udell Engelbrecht, undoubtedly in Muskogee. A daughter, Karen, was born to the couple in 1944, followed by Lee Dell in 1949. Both girls were born in Muskogee. According to his obituary, Thomas served in the US Air Force during WW II, after which the family moved to Miami, Oklahoma, where he owned and operated a furniture store. Thomas died in Miami in 1968.

Obituary: "Thomas C. (Tommy) Snyder, owner of Snyder's Nelson Furniture Co. in Miami, died early Sunday after suffering a heart attack at his home. He was stricken shortly after midnight and died two hours later in Baptist hospital. Snyder, 50, of 2011 Yale, had lived in Miami 22 years, moving here in 1946 following World War II, in which he served as an Air Force captain. He was born Feb. 23, 1918, at Muskogee. He was senior warden and a lay reader of All Saints' Episcopal church and was a member of the Masonic lodge, Rotary club and the Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Udell Snyder, and two daughters, Lee Dell Snyder and Mrs. Karen Wilson, of the home; a brother, William R. Snyder, Muskogee; four sisters, Mrs. Paul Bower, Mrs. Wheeler Haines, Mrs. William J. Pegg and Miss Pauline Snyder, all of Muskogee, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at All Saints' church with the Rev. Phillip S. Crow officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Thompson, Dick Wright, Ramon Ammerman, Dick Wallace, Tom Wilson and Jack Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude Dale, Tom Bomford, Dick Smith, Leonard Gibson, Maurice Ball, Dr. David Carson, Douglas Owens, Neil Norton, Col. M. Hughley and G. R. Daley. Burial will be in GAR cemetery under direction of the Cooper funeral home."
