John Edmond Brady, Sr. was born 11 November 1905 to James Brady and Augusta Gruss Brady. He was the second of four children born to the couple with an older sister Julia and younger sisters Jeanette and Margaret. His father was killed during the demolition of the burnt Peet Soap Factory when John was only 5 years old. His younger sister Margaret, passed away 9 days afterward at 5 months of age. Augusta later remarried to George M. Glaser, with whom she had two more children, Max Glaser and Veronica Glaser.
John married Elizabeth May Murphy on 24 June 1920. They had four children together: 1) John Edmond Brady, Jr., 2) Jeanette Elizabeth Brady, 3) Charles C. Brady and 4) Patrick Dennis Brady.
John passed away 28 December 1984 and was buried at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City. Also buried at the KC Mount Calvary Cemetery are his mother, Augusta, father James, step-father George, sister Jeanette Brady Blackwell, brother-in-law Merlin Blackwell, sister Veronica Glaser Blackwell, brother-in-law Norman Blackwell, sister Margaret Brady, half-brother Max Glaser, grandfather George Gruss, grandmother Caroline Holderrieth Gruss, aunt Julia Brady Scanlon and several Gruss cousins. His sister Julia Brady Beary and brother-in-law William Beary are buried at the Highland Park Cemetery across the street.
