SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Sarah Key Fullilove, 97, will be held at Couch Chapel of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Reverend Carl Rhoads will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue.
The family will receive friends in Couch Parlor from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Sarah was born March 30, 1911 in Myra, LA to William and Sarah Ballard. She passed away Friday, January 2, 2009, in Shreveport, LA. She was a graduate of Northwestern State University and enjoyed graduate work at the University of Maryland. Sarah retired from Caddo Parish Schools in 1968 with over 30 years of teaching. She was a devoted member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Carroll Cliffton Key; second husband, Asbury Blanton Fullilove; and all of her brothers and sisters.
Sarah is survived by her daughter, Patricia Key Aura and husband, Albert of Shreveport; grandson, Mark Thomas Patterson of Denver, CO; step-granddaughter, Michele Reynolds of Katy, TX; step-grandson, Michael Aura of Shreveport; great grandchildren, Julia and Rachel Paterson of Denver, CO and Rayne Reynolds of Katy, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Broadmoor United Methodist Church Library, the Children's Music Program or the donor's choice.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Glen Oaks Retirement Home, Dr. Sipes, the late Dr. Nave and special friend, Jane Heggen, for their concern and care.
