He served in Capt. Stanley's Company, from Farmington, Conn., in Gay's Reg't, and, according to War Department records, his name appears in an account dated July 18, 1776, of the time of enlistment and marching of the men of that company to join the Continental Army in New York, which shows he enlisted June 24, marched July 4 and joined the army July 7.
