Travis "Butch" E. Childress, 71, of Chester, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013. Born in Amelia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Hazel Childress. He is also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Linda Childress.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Louise Childress; daughter, Tammy Brooks and her husband, Dwayne; granddaughter, Brianna Brooks; grandson, Christopher Brooks and his wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, and Madison; three brothers, Samuel Childress and his wife, Daisy, James Childress, and Donnie Childress; one sister, Doris Alexy and her husband, Frank; brother-in-law, Steve Bryant and his wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Kay Childress; numerous nieces; nephews; and great-nieces; and nephews; and a very good friend, Jesse Milliner.

Butch retired from Defense Supply Center in Richmond, and was also employed at Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Guy Murdock, officiating, who has always been with the family in their time of sorrow and happiness. Interment will follow at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4814 Courthouse Road, Church Road. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
