W.M. Barber, 73 years old, died at his home Friday, March 24th, at 3:55 a.m., following a lengthy illness. Mr. Barber served the people of Claiborne parish for eight years as tax assessor, was parish surveyor for many years, and also served as police jury member. He moved to Homer from Summerfield, about 20 yours ago, where he was a prominent farmer for a number of years.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Methodist church with Rev. Carl Lueg officiating, assisted by the Rev. Harold Rutledge, pastor of the Baptist church. Burial was in the Arlington cemetery, under the direction of the Kerlin Funeral home.

Mr. Barber is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Raley Barber; two daughters, Mrs. R.F. Allgood of Summerfield, and Mrs. Faye Hill of Shreveport; four sons, V.W. Barber of Bienville, R.T. Barber of Alexandria, E.B. Barber and H.I. Barber of Homer. In addition, he is survived by ten grandchildren.

W.M. Barber, age 73, of Homer, father of V.W. Barber, principal of the Bienville high school, died at his home in Homer, last Friday, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Homer Methodist church with Rev. Carl Luet, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Harold Rutledge, pastor of the Homer Baptist church. Burial was in the Arlington cemetery at Homer.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Alice Raley Barber; two daughters, Mrs. R.F. Allgood of Summerfield, and Mrs. Faye Hill of Shreveport; four sons, V.W. Barber of Bienville, R.T. Barber of Alexandria, E.B. Barber and H.I. Barber of Homer. Also ten grandchildren.

Mr. Barber was tax assessor of Claiborne parish for eight years.
